Booker Allen Lefkow Obituary UPDATE, West Des Moines IA – Heartbroken Family Mourns Sweet Baby Boy

The West Des Moines IA community is feeling a deep painful sadness after the heartbreaking passing of baby boy, Booker Allen Lefkow, who sadly died on May 16, 2025, after a tough and emotional week in the PICU at Blank Childrens Hospital. Many people online been expressing shock, support and prayers for the family, and the news has spread fast across friends groups, faith circles, and neighboorhood talks, leaving so many feeling confused and heavy with question about how life can shift so sudden. His short life still impacting huge, and many said this is the type of loss that dont go away easy.

From the moment Booker arrives on May 10, 2024, his presence bring warmth to every space he was in, and his big blue eyes kinda made strangers smile with no reason, wich is why some people say that baby was pure sunshine. Family say he was always laughing, cheering, and crawling wild around the house, creating loud and funny moments that now echo painfully in quiet. He love snuggling close to Mommy and Daddy, playing loud with the family labradors Huxley and Hattie, and rolling across rooms with his favorite monkey WubbaNub, like he was ready to explore every corner of life.

Loved ones share he was obsessed with his cousins Evelyn, Ella, and Gianna, hunting for them in different rooms just to giggle or screech in excitement. There was always clapping, tapping, and little squeeks bouncing around walls. Booker loved traveling too even though so young, splashing in pools, visiting new states, making memories that now feel priceless to those holding them. His parents call him “Goose,” a nickname that friends say match his playful spirit, and now many promise to see him in any goose flying overhead or walking by a pond.

He is survived by his loving parents Alex and Parker Lefkow, his grandparents Kerri and Richie Allen, and Bruce and Elizabeth Lefkow, plus great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and everybody who ever saw his spark. Even the nurses at PICU talked about how strong he faught, and how his gentle way kinda soften the whole room. Though many hearts ache, the family remains grateful for nearly one year of memories, holding tight to moments like tiny fingerprints pressed on walls and toys still around.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines IA. The service will follow immediately, offering friends a chance to speak, cry, breathe and celebrate his little bright life. The family ask anyone attending to please focus on love and gentle support, because grief is heavy but kindness helps carry some of it.

Instead of flowers or expensive plants, the family request that everyone hug your loved ones real tight and share a act of kindness in his memory, something that sparks warmth like his laughter did. Donations in Booker’s name can be given to Blank Childrens Hospital, supporting future kids who might be fighting tough medical battles just like he did bravley.

People online are saying that at any moment when you see a goose, maybe waddling around or flying across sunset skies, thats Booker sending a hug from above, reminding everyone that he is never really gone.
